I grew up in the dry cleaning business. I graduated from a dry cleaning Institute that taught me how to keep the chemical solvent clean and how to take out spots.

In 1963, When I was 23, I bought my first dry cleaning plant. The money that I made was unbelievable.

Dry cleaning plants were opening all over. Everybody was making money.

Then in the early 70s, Wash and Wear clothing appeared.

Dry cleaning was no longer a money maker.

In 1975 I open my first tailor shop. It was in Roselle Park at the corner of Westfield Avenue and Galloping Hill Road. I called the place, Tailoring While U Wait. My store sign had a big zipper on it. Up to that time tailoring usually took 2 to 3 weeks. People liked getting their tailoring back sooner.

I knew 75% of tailoring. I found a school in South Plainfield where the owner agreed to let me bring a tailoring job that I did not know how to do. She taught me how to do that job. I always had top-notch workers. They taught me everything else I had to know.

Tailoring can have a lot of handwork that slows down production. I began developing techniques that use machines rather than hands. This enabled us to get to work out much faster and at a smaller cost.

We passed along the savings to our customers.
